Are the End Times Here? – Journal Entry 8 – September 12, 2006

The world has gone mad, has it not?  Iran building nuclear weapons and wanting to annihilate Israel and the US.  Suicide bombers running into crowded streets and blowing themselves up.  Tsunami’s hitting more and more.  Earthquakes becoming common news.  Our leaders adopting majorly upsetting laws and thinking they are right. Technology advancing at a rate that makes our heads spin.  Then there is that one world government rumor.  And the one world currency rumor.  Oh, and there are people attacking Christian beliefs – thinking we are the crazy ones.

Anyone with me?

I mean, sounds pretty “end times” to me.  But what does scripture say?

The prophet Daniel said at the time of the end “knowledge will increase” (Dan. 12:4).

Hum. . .

The apostle Paul said in the last days, “men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God . . . ” (1 Tim 3:1-5)

Hum. . .

And then we take the words of Jesus.

“Yes, the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are offering a service to God.”  (John 16:2)

And what did those terrorist do on 9-11?  They thought they were offering a service to their god.

If you look at the facts, it freaks you out.  I mean, if the end of the world is here, then what do we do?  Build a bunker?  Store a year’s supply of food?  Cower in a corner?  Shut up and do anything the authorities say?

Before we get to the first thing we need to do, these thoughts were spinning through my head on September 11, 2006, less than four months after my husband was killed.  Here is my journal entry the next day.

September 12, 2006

Yesterday Cathy, Mark (Doug’s mom and step father) and I drove to Hampton, NH where they dedicated a monument for the fallen from NH – from September 11, 2001 until present day – September 11, 2006.  And they will keep adding to it.  Doug’s name was on there.  Really, really hard to see.  But that morning I watched a special on September 11 and was reminded of WHY this war is so important.  I don’t know when the “end times” are and I know people can “invent” many “end times” – like I am sure WWI, WWII, etc – all that – there were people saying, “It’s here.”  But. . .

1) I think God wants it to be like that –  no one can know the day or the hour and

2) I can really see this conflict becoming an “end time” – maybe not the last one, but maybe leading up to it.  It could go either way.

It will be interesting to see what happens.  It is interesting that most people interpreting Revelation say America isn’t “in it.”

Well, these terrorists want to blow this country out of the water – interesting.

Something to think about.

It is something to think about.  Because there is nothing that needs to happen before the final seven years on planet earth begin (Daniel 9:27).  All we are waiting for is the rise of a man we call the Antichrist (Daniel 7:25).

I for one think we are neck-deep in this thing.   The final days are here.  The clock is ticking.  So what do we do?  If you know something is about to transpire, does God want you to hide your head in the sand?

Did God tell Noah a boat would be on the way to pick him up when the rains came?

No.  Noah built the ark in preparation of what God said was about to come upon the land.

When God warned Pharoah in a dream that 7 years of famine were coming and Joseph interpreted that dream, did God command Joseph to sit on his hinny and watch the world go by?

No, Joseph took action.

But here is the secret.  You can’t make your actions, your preparations, your god.  Rely on God to direct your paths.  Rely on Him to tell you what you need to do.  Don’t get bogged down with building an ark when the ark designer’s blueprint sits on a shelf in the corner, just waiting for you to ask Him what to do!

The first thing we need to do is get back in the Word because the Word is our lamp (Psalm 119:105).

And the lamp is our Savior (John 1:1-4).

And without His light, our inner zombie will come out (see Jeff Kinley’s Christian Zombie Killers Handbook)

Get in the Word.

Because without the light, you can’t see what is coming, and you will be unprepared.
